As an automotive photographer in 2008 when I started this project, I bought my first proper camera and went on a road trip to Scotland in search of a nice classic jetty. I loved Scotland, but couldn't find one so I headed south to the Lake District which revealed just what I was searching for. This simplistic, clean and classic jetty perfectly frames your bike or car with a bit of moodiness acting as a great personalised talking point for your home and making this automotive photographer able to play and start this project. Other versions from revisits over the years are available with warmer richer colours.

Photographed and enhanced by myself Rob Paston so I can personalise it further with number plates, arty options creating a truly unique piece.

Any size, any material, framed, canvas, metal, glass and giant fabric for garages.

Here is an example of one I have done before:

“Smaller Budget-friendly Offerings”

If a large 36” commission is too big or outside your budget, then I have other smaller designs and materials which don’t take as many hours to create, so start from under £200. Email over your photo and I can give you some ideas.

“Optional “Commission” Material Extras - costs based on 36””

36" glass table

Instead of the wall, think tables, a modern looking piece of practical art for your home. Your commission is created in the same way, but fits into a specially made coffee table for you to enjoy and use. Click here for product videos.

Glass

Have your commission printed on to glass acting as a splash back or just a unique feature piece of wall art with a modern twist. Using tempered glass, making this a heavy piece, a good solid wall is needed but these shiny pieces look stunning and act as a real showpiece. Comes complete with discrete wall hanging brackets and the option to later incorporate into a coffee table. Click here for product videos.

Metal

Have your commission come alive with my metal versions which glint at you, as the light changes when you walk by. This lightweight but durable material will give you pleasure for years with this great effect and being very lightweight, suitable for any wall. Different designs work in different ways. Click here for product videos.

Floater Frame

People still prefer my work using my top of the range canvas material. It shows great detail in moody colours through to vibrant colours, wrapped around chunky 38mm edges. But if it’s still missing a frame for you and you don’t want the image distracted by the glare of glass then this is perfect. 5.5 cm deep these big black chunky 3 or 2 cm wide simple black frames set off and draw you into your design. All designs can always be email proofed so you can see how this will look. Click here for product videos.

Framed

Generally, my small range of appropriate frames suit most requirements, like a standard black frame setting the image off and are always email proofed until you’re 100% happy. The home is a very personal place, with colours, décor and themes so if a certain frame match is required then that option exists too. Click here for product videos.

Rather large garage art, any size, any material

As I have positioned myself as a one-stop shop, coupled with my unique photography and personalised art offerings, I can create any artwork and print any size. From an 8ft x 4ft piece of metal to fabric the size of your wall so please let me know what you’re thinking so I can give you more of an idea of extra costs. Click here for product videos.

Hints and tips for you to take a photo I can use

Thank you for your interest in my work, although I can travel to you and take all the photos needed and add a bit of value, if you, or someone you know is handy with a proper camera then you can supply me with a suitable photo.

Before you start:

  1. Camera. Try not to use a phone, any camera with a zoom lens will be great, for SLR’s set to about 50mm F8 aperture or just use Auto and walk back until it fills the screen, which means you’ll be about 6 / 7 metres away. This is the same distance you will be with a pocket zoom camera or a good mobile phone then zoom in to fill the screen all from normal head height to the middle of the vehicle.  Always ensure the camera is set to maximum quality, and being digital, you can take lots and vary stood still, tip toes, to a 10” crouch, moving to the left and right by about a metre. Don’t forget its email proofed anyway and always feel free to call me at the time if you want some help.
  2. Weather. Think about the weather in the background you like, 2 options a bright Sunny shot or cloudy which works for night time too.  If in doubt wait for a sunny with fast moving clouds and get both with a high sun as opposed to the end of the day when the shadows however nice, can work against you.
  3. Location. Quiet parts of supermarket car parks or, sports centres, especially when they are closed, or a big open area car parks etc but always on a flat hard surface so I have the bottom of the tyres. The enemy is other cars, trees and buildings reflecting in the paint work and windows.  Simply cured by a big open space, sun behind you if out, does not matter what is behind the vehicle as long as the paintwork and windows are reflection free. Little bits are OK.
  4. Extra tips for bikes. These generally look best photographing the right-hand side as it usually leans to the left on the side stand.  If you are facing 12 o’clock the bike would be about 4 o’clock. Front wheel straight or turned to the left to show the discs etc as opposed to all tyre. If shooting from the rear to get your number plate, with you facing 12 o’clock and the bike facing about 2 o’clock with the front wheel turned slightly to the right but not too much. Again, you know your bike and how cool it looks, so have a play and send them all to me.
  5. Extra tips for cars. Generally, the lines of most cars look great from a front 3/4 angle so if you’re facing 12 o’clock, the car is facing either 4 – 5 o’clock or at 7 – 8 o’clock, so you can see the lines of the boot area too. For side-on shots, wheels straight and normal head height.  Generally, windows up, unless you want to be shown in it, but if you have a soft top and the roof is down then do drop the windows too. Wheels either straight or slightly turned showing more wheel and less tyre tread looks good, but not too much.  Again, you know your car and how you like it, so click away and send them all to me and always feel free to call at the time for more help.
